Torches are one of the most basic craft able items of Minecraft, and the most used light source in Minecraft. Torches are of two types:- Regular torch and Soul torch. You can craft a regular torch in Minecraft, by putting a stick, and a piece of coal or charcoal, on the top of the stick.
And you can make a soul torch by putting soul sand, or soul soil, on the top of coal and stick. You can find torches Naturally, at abandoned Mineshaft, Villages, near the bonus chest, at Woodland Mansion, Stronghold, etc.

Early Torches of Minecraft

Yes, see that picture, you can clearly see that, at early versions of Minecraft, the Torches have such a Dark texture, and they were smaller in size, but only in the inventory.

Torches can teleport

In the early phase of Minecraft, there was a pretty weird feature, that if you break the block on which a torch is placed, then the torch will teleport to the nearest available block, rather than dropping on the ground.
It seems pretty weird.
But, in the alpha version of Minecraft, this changed to that we see today, in the game.
